What do we do when life feels busy? How do we hold onto our faith when it seems like everything is chaotic? Finding peace is easier than we think.
I had about twelve places to be. Or at least it felt that way. I had work to get done and dinner to make and I’m positive there was laundry to do (isn’t there always?) One kid had gymnastics, one had sewing and the other had football. Oh, and my husband was working, so it was all on me.
Have you had days like that?
Maybe the exact details differed, but have you had days when it felt like there was just so much to do and if only you could clone yourself it would all work out just fine?
Days like that leave me feeling drained before I even get started.
Life isn’t a terrible storm like a tornado, but the clouds are dark and the rain pours down and boy do those winds pick up, even on the most ordinary of days.
I need something to hold onto in those storms.
God tells us what to do in the storm. In two simple words: BE STILL.
Being still is the last thing I want to do when I feel the overwhelmed by the storm around me. I want to make a list. Or a plan. Or at least eat some chocolate.
And those things aren’t bad. But they aren’t going to calm our soul. God has something so much better in mind.
This doesn’t mean everything around me stops, that all of my responsibilities go away and I can stand still in the middle of life.
BE STILL reminds us to still our hearts, to still our spirits, and know, deep inside that He is God.
He controls it all. He sees it all. And He never leaves us alone, not for one moment.

be still.
what an invitation. and why do we say ‘no, thanks’ more often than not …
thank you for this nudge toward obedience. God is offering what our hearts are craving, friend …
YES! It’s not as hard as we think. And NO doesn’t need to be rude, does it?! It can just be a simple, kind “no thanks!”
These are beautiful. Thank you for sharing as I had not heard of them.
Hope you entered the giveaway! They’re great!
Beautiful jewelry! Thank you for sharing.
It is truly lovely!
Two little words that are so easy to say but sometimes so hard to do – be still. When I get overwhelmed, I find that if I remember to take a breath and remember this Psalm, my to-do list somehow becomes much more manageable. God is offering us peace in times of turbulence.
And His peace is so good for our souls!
I love the ebb and flow of Psalm 46, and you’re right: It’s a vivid image of life with the “nations raging” and the “mountains falling into the sea.”
… or at least that’s the way it feels when dinner is late round here!
Ha!
Oh do I often need that reminder to be still….rather than grab another piece of dark chocolate:)
Well, I think the dark chocolate is a blessing from God too! 😉
Love the Holly Lane jewelry, Rebecca. I haven’t seen this before. Thanks!

Rebecca,
So many beautiful pieces to choose from. I love the symbolism of the waves. Even in the midst of the storms, God’s abiding presence whispers to us to simply “Be still” and know that He is God. He will even fight our battles for us if we just be still. Beautiful reminder!
Blessings,
Bev xx
Isn’t it lovely?! I hope you entered the giveaway!
It’s just like that song says, “O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear…”. Thanks for sharing, Rebecca. Blessings to you!
Oh, this is so convicting. We don’t need to give up peace. He promises it to us!
“Be Still”… definitely words the Lord has had to repeat to me quite often. I often get so wound up and anxious about everything that I forget that God is always in control, and in knowing that, there is peace. Very encouraging!
And beautiful jewelry!
He is in control, even when I forget 😉
Faith based gift items are such great ideas! I’m so glad that we can sit still in our hearts knowing that our True Peace is always with us even in the chaos!
They are so fun, and give so much hope!
Beautiful photos! And a great truth–when my heart is churning, I need to be still before Him.
Being still is the best!
Psalm 46:10 is my verse of the year! I love how you painted this battle-strategy for handling life’s storms, friend! I’m always blessed in this space!
Always love connecting with you!
