3 Ways to Simplify Your Life & Your Faith

Have you been feeling the need to simply your life and your faith?

I’ve been in a strange place lately, but then again, haven’t we all? (Thank you 2020.)

Life feels a bit chaotic in my head. There are probably no less than 100 reasons why, so the details don’t matter as much as this simple truth:

God knew 2020 would be like this.

And that brings me comfort. Not because I understand, but because the foundation still stands. We are not floating hopelessly at sea. We are not lost in a social and political war. We are not navigating alone in the dark.

God is here, even in this place. Sometimes that is hard for me to see. My natural solution has been to try to get everything in order and check all the boxes and do all the things.

But what if that’s not what he’s calling us to?

A Call to Simple

I’ve been feeling it deep inside lately, this call to simplify (and I’m not talking about my belongings, although that can happen.) I need to simplify my heart and my mind. I need to get back to feel that firm foundation beneath me.

The best news? Getting there is a list of elimination more than things to accomplish.

In the simplest way possible, I offer 3 ways to simplify your life and your faith to find your way back to your foundation with Jesus.

Recognize

The act of recognizing how you’re feeling and who God is goes a long way in simplifying. It is becoming a daily practice with no rhyme or reason. Simply state the feeling and name who God is throughout the day.

Identify

Think about what is most important to you. Family is a big one for me. Knowing that, I can prioritize things that help me serve my family in this season. (Knowing that it won’t look like this forever helps!)

Release

Lately, my kids have been struggling with schooling at home. And I have been struggling to do everything I used to do AND support the changes they’re facing. I can’t hold it all at once, so I need to release some good things to make room for the best things.

In all of this, God is reminding me to Be Still. To come to Him and be present. Even my Butterfly Box (a fantastic subscription box to help women build their faith) came with a prayer book and a journal that says Be Still.

I think I’m getting the message God!
