The calendar squares are moving forward, faster and faster it seems, and the holidays are on the horizon.
There could be family time and fantastic food, or a shift worked like any other day. Maybe you’re anticipating tension or drama that no turkey or twinkly lights can outweigh.
Whether the holiday weighs heavy for you or puts a spring in your step, there are three things that you should know.
You Are Enough.
Right now, right where you are.
You don’t need to try to be more than you are. You don’t need to seek approval. Your job, your calling, your everyday ordinary. 100% enough.
There are no perfect people and there are no perfect holidays. There is only real. And you, in all of your real, are enough.
You Are Never Alone.
This one can feel hard and sound trite because sometimes it is less concrete than we’d like. But that doesn’t make it any less true.
Whether you are surrounded by 50 relatives (and feel like no one sees you) or you are sitting in your home (and desperately wishing you had someone next to you), you are not alone.
The God of all the universe is there with you in any situation. Ask Him to show you.
You Can Make A Difference.
I’m not talking about grand gestures or soup kitchen service (although if that’s your thing — go for it!) You, being you, can make a difference in this world.
The way you smile at the cashier who wishes they were not working the crazy pre-holiday shift at the grocery store. The way you give a little extra in the tip jar or spend a little more time with someone. Choosing to pick up the phone and call that person instead of texting.
You can make a difference wherever you go. Today is the best day to start.
Holidays can be hard and wonderful and stressful and drama-filled and the list goes on. Who you are does not change because of a special day on the calendar.
Remember who you are.
It may not make the turkey less dry or that shift at work end any faster, but it will help you through anything the holiday throws at you.

Rebecca,
What great simple truth to keep in mind. I don’t have a large family and the reminder that I am never alone is much needed. I can also make a difference by letting others know they are not alone by simple acts of kindness. Thanks for refocusing my lens.
Blessings and Happy Thanksgiving,
Bev xx
Yes! What a great way to take truth and walk it out in love!
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Rebecca, thank you for reminding me of these. It is easy to forget who I am as I try to do the various and many tasks which face me. Grateful to know I am not alone as I do them and perhaps, they truly do make a difference. May you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Thank yo so much sweet friend! Praying you and yours have a truly happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks for anchoring our busy feet in the unchangeable truth, Rebecca.
Always an honor, friend!
Rebecca, such hope-filled, comforting words you share today! You touched on some of my heartbeat themes. I love the perspective you’ve shared here. The reminder that we are enough, just as we are, is an evergreen thing for me. And the reminder that I can make a difference right where I am…today…was one I needed. Thank you!
So grateful we can encourage one another!
Thanks for helping take some of the stress away from the holidays. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because there are less expectations (and shopping!) but even with it, I need to remind myself that I don’t have to be perfect; I can be who I am. Happy Thanksgiving to you, Rebecca!
Isn’t it wonderful?! I love your reminder to yourself too!
YOU can make a difference <— that's an important point! Thanks for the encouragement!
