There are times we know our truth, we see it all around, and believe with all that we are.
And then there are the other times. The times when it just isn’t that easy.
I wrote an article recently for a large website that caused a bit of a stir. The site doesn’t have commenting available, but I was curious about what people thought so I headed over to Facebook and Twitter.
I wish I hadn’t.
There were some great comments from people that could see my heart in each of the words I had written. But then there were others. Not exactly mean, but they didn’t leave me with a warm, fuzzy feeling.
These words began to nudge me, to push me little by little off my foundation. As each one pushed I was closer and closer to the edge until I forgot truth. Instead I began believing things that swirled in my mind.
Those things are not truth.
When I find myself off my foundation, I need a little help to get back on firm ground.
Sometimes I need to wear my truth. I need to label myself with God's truth until I get my footing. Share on XSometimes I need to wear my truth.
I need to label myself with God’s truth until I get my footing. I need to see it over and over all day, a declaration of who I am and what I believe. It’s not even about telling other people. It’s about reminding myself of who I am and what I know to be true.
As I read the comments and spiraled in my own mind, I saw my shirt:
It was all I needed to know in that moment. I wore those words all day, a constant reminder of the truth my soul needed. Wearing my truth turned my day around.
Sometimes we need to wear our truth to remind ourselves of what we believe.
If you need a firm foundation of truth to stand on, try wearing your truth. EllyandGrace has beautiful shirts that will remind you of who you are and what you know to be true. They live up to their mission to uplift, inspire and point people to Jesus. (Plus, they’re super comfy!)

Good words, Rebecca! We need truth in our deepest heart to counteract the lies thrown at us by our culture.
Blessings to you as you continue to lean into truth.
Thanks so much, friend!
Isn’t it great how God can grab our attention through so many avenues?! How awesome that He used the shirt you were wearing, love that!! Their shirts are cute, I like the tell your mountain about your God and Grace wins!! #kingdom linkup
Yes! God is pretty funny sometimes!
And I love the “Tell Your Mountain About Your God” shirt too!
What a powerful story, image and truth, Rebecca! It’s so easy to get knocked off our feet with unkind words and actions from others. But we simply need to “be still” and know that He is God and remains on His throne! Thank you for this reminder and for pointing us to this site for encouraging products we can buy! Hugs to you, girlfriend! You are doing God’s work and that’s saying a whole LOT about your good, good heart!!
You are so very sweet and encouraging Beth! Thank you so much. It means more than you know!
These shirts are so great. And your words are perfect. It’s so hard not to take negative feedback personally, but we know it’s not from God. laurensparks.net
Thanks Lauren! Great reminder that the only words we NEED are from GOD!
Love this idea! Whatever it takes to keep the truth of God’s Word at the forefront. Much like wearing the belt of truth only maybe a little better visual reminder that many of us need. Many Thanks 8)
Yes! I struggle to remember the armor of God. But it is always worth putting on!
I’m sorry you had that experience with people’s feedback. It’s hard to hold on to the truth when others don’t respond well. I think any reminder of truth we can give ourselves is really helpful. I recently got a top that says “Faith over fear” and I agree, it is more a reminder to myself than a statement to anyone else.
Love that message — FAITH OVER FEAR!
Awwww that’s hard to get negative feedback. We want to engage right away and explain our hearts, but sometimes we can’t or we just shouldn’t. It’s fun how God will use just about anything to grab our attention and correct our focus!
I know! He amazes me in the lengths He’ll go to get my attention!
Oh yes! What a wonderful reminder – to be still so that we can hear the voice of God when he speaks to us! I do tend to get caught up in the busyness and noise of the day. I will check out the website. Thanks for sharing!
Choosing stillness to hear Him makes the difference my soul is craving!
Yeah, it can be rough out there … and kindness isn’t a byword like it is around here.
‘Be still’ says it all … and we’re reminded again Whose opinion matters most.
Amen, amen!
” It’s not even about telling other people. It’s about reminding myself of who I am and what I know to be true.” Yes! Keep declaring this over yourself. Thanks for sharing.
You too!
Ugh, online comments can be the worst. 🙁 I’m sorry you had to see some bad ones. I wish people would at least be polite if they’re going to disagree. I love your Be Still shirt; yes, wear that truth!
Thanks friend! 🙂
Love your shirt Rebecca and how you are wearing your truth! Beautiful! Pinned. Being still can be such a difficult task, but sometimes it’s what we are called to do. Thanks for this great post and thanks for linking up at InstaEncouragements!
It can be hard, and I am so grateful for God’s grace for me in the process!
Oh how easy it is to fall in the rabbit hole of what others think instead of the truth of what God says. I have gotten stuck in that place too often.i love the idea of wearing our truth. I also have a beautiful painting above my fireplace that has the word “enough” on it. God reminds me daily I am enough in Him. Great thoughts!
YES! I love that you can see that reminder! I have two pieces I’ve had made — one says eternity and hangs in my bedroom, and the other says worthy. Surround ourselves with truth!
Rebecca, I read “that” article and you took a strong stance on the subject and did an extraordinary post. You exhibited grace and truth. Own it. The Word says “God desires truth in the secret places.” (Ps 51.6) And, Proverbs 28.23 (look that one up!).
You are so encouraging! Thank you; it means a lot!
Whatever works. If it’s wearing truth then yes, wear it. You wear it well. Love the message! I don’t do Facebook because I sincerely believe it’s a breeding ground for insecurity which leads to everyone trying to prove a point at any cost even if it means hurting others. I have zero energy for it so I deactivated it. Haven’t tweeted in a while either except for automatic posting through Crowdfire.
Social media is a tricky beast, for sure. Finding what works for your soul is key!
I own LOTS of ways to wear my truth and always enjoy the faith boost from it! <3
Isn’t it great?!
