This always surprises me. I take a perfectly norma

This always surprises me. I take a perfectly normal photo and then I look at it and I see gray hairs. I go about life, not even noticing them, and then all of a sudden, they’re there. But do you know what’s most surprising?

They don’t surprise God. When I was perming my hair as a teenager, wrestling with tangles as a girl, or chopping it all off when I had kids, God knew exactly how the silvery strands would catch the light.

It’s hard to understand all the things about God sometimes. The way God sees time is one of those ideas that I can’t wrap my head around. But maybe it’s not my job to understand as much as it is my job to connect with him.

There will be so many things in this life thatsurprise us. It’s comforting to know they don’t surprise God.

I don’t usually do this. I purposely wait to share about books until I finish them. I want to make sure I understand them and have time to process before I tell you. But this one feels different.

I’ve Got Questions by @erinhmoon is making space for things we sometimes struggle to talk about when it comes to faith, God, traditions, and the church.

I like when people make space to talk about hard things with grace. What about you?

I used to kill every single plant we had. No matte

I used to kill every single plant we had. No matter how hard I tried, no matter how easy the plant was or how much I watered, they always died.

And then something changed.

It was in those days of 2020 when everything seemed hard. I desperately wanted something that represented life. So I bought a plant.

And much to everyone’s surprise, I kept it alive. Little by little I learned and tended my little plant. Soon, one plant became two became ten. They’re not fancy plants but they’re alive.

It turns out we can change. The things we always thought were true can be outgrown, set down, or intentionally tossed aside.

We can change. We can grow. Even when we never thought it was possible.

This may just be a plant but it’s also a reminder that change can be beautiful.
