3 Things You Need to Know About Who You Are

The world is telling me all the things I should be: thinner, more productive, happier, better. But what if the world has it all wrong?

A visit to any number of websites will tell us how to be this illusive better version of ourselves. They insist if you desire it, you can be it (in 12 easy steps!)

The world pushes us to always look at the ways in which we are not enough. But what if you could stop all that striving and see who you already are?

You are seen and loved

God sees you this very minute and loves you. The end. It’s that simple. Nothing you do or don’t do can ever earn or disqualify you from His love. It’s a gift. And it says a lot more about the Giver than it ever will about us.

God's love is a gift that says more about the Giver than it does about us. #godloves #loved Share on X

You are a sinner

I know, this sounds like a negative, but stick with me! We all mess up, in a million big and little ways every day. No matter how good we try to be, we will never, ever outrun our sin-nature. The sooner we accept that, the sooner we can stop running, stop pretending, stop striving.

We can go to God, fully real, and ask Him to forgive us. When we stop running we can embrace grace.

You are not alone

Maybe you’re thinking, of course I’m not alone. There are people around me all the time. I get it! The only place I’m alone is in the bathroom, and even that is iffy. But I’m not talking about being surrounded by people. I’m talking about in your heart.

No circumstance you face, no fear you hold onto, no worry or stress or feeling is done alone. In every situation, you have God with you. How do I know? I believe His promise:

Maybe you’re reading this thinking it’s great for everyone else, but not for you. God couldn’t possibly feel this way about you, right? Maybe the only thing you feel worthy of is stress and heartache.

I’ve been there. Some days I still am. But it’s a lousy place to be. It feels lonely and hard and like you’ll never get out. So, I wrote a book for you. And if I’m honest, for me too.
